SD101201 Sensors

Has two Hall Effect sensors; one detects the speed and the other detects the direction of movement of gear teeth. The outputs are open collector transistors. The speed output goes high (on) when sensing the leading edge of a tooth and low (off) on the trailing edge of the tooth when run against a standard target. The direction of movement is latched on the leading edge of the speed sensor; the direction output goes high for clockwise rotation and low for counterclockwise rotation. The state of the direction output always leads to the rising edge of the speed output.

Features

  • Separate digital outputs for speed and direction
  • From near zero speed up to 15 kHz sensing capability
  • Plastic flange-mount sensor rated to 125 ⁰C
  • RoHS compliant
  • IP67
  • Typical air gap of 1.5 mm (0.06”)*

Applications

  • Wheel speed and direction
  • Hoist speed and direction
  • Transmission speed and direction
  • Industrial feedback and control

Sensor VN1015

Employs a Hall Effect digital vane sensor and a permanent magnet in two small towers, separated by a 3.4 mm (0.135”) air gap. The output switches when a ferrous target passes between the towers. Typical targets are linear or rotary vanes using a square saw tooth or an open slot in a solid disk or band.

Features

  • Mechanically interchangeable with typical slotted optical switches
  • Robust, high-speed sensing in dirty/dusty environments
  • No mechanical contacts to wear out
  • Open collector (sinking or NPN) output can be used with bipolar or CMOS logic circuits with a suitable pull-up resistor
  • RoHS compliant

Applications

  • Door/gate position control
  • Exercise equipment
  • Printers
