Cylindrical Semi-Housed Linear VCA

Semi-housed voice coil actuators (VCA) enhance the basic frameless VCAs by adding both a shaft and self-aligning bushings to the unit. The lead wires have also been upgraded to a high-flex variant, allowing for added protection from wear and tear. Various shaft options are available depending on the size of the actuator, including both external and internal threading, as well as a standard smooth shaft.

Features

  • Precision shaft with multiple options available
  • Zero-cogging and backlash-free
  • Life tested in excess of 500 million cycles

Applications

  • Medical equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Aerospace & Defense

Cylindrical Housed Linear VCA

A fully housed voice coil actuator (VCA) further expands upon the idea of the semi-housed VCA, incorporating the self-aligning bushings and shaft, but fully captures the coil assembly to keep it concentric with the field assembly, adds an internal flex circuit to protect external moving wires and limits the axial travel on both ends of the stroke.

As a single piece, the linear actuator can be mounted on one side and does not require a customer-supplied alignment system, making it easy to integrate into applications. Housed voice coil actuators feature all the inherent advantages of VCA technology, such as direct drive, zero backlash, and cog-free operation for accurate motion, as well as high acceleration and the use of single phase.

Features

  • Designs available with magnet springs and/or latches
  • Different shaft options available
  • Housing offers additional mechanical and environmental protection
  • Single unit that is more easily integrated into customer applications
  • Life tested in excess of 500 million cycles

Applications

  • Medical equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Aerospace & Defense

Rectangular Linear VCA

Rectangular voice coil actuators (VCA) are linear VCAs just like the cylindrical models but are often used for applications that require a higher force and/or a longer stroke. Due to their shape, they can be designed to fit into tighter or thinner systems or optimized for their sheer power and high speeds. Rectangular voice coil actuators feature all the inherent advantages of VCA technology, such as direct drive, zero backlash, and cog-free operation for accurate motion, as well as high acceleration and use of single phase.

Features

  • Zero friction caused by moving parts
  • Ideal for high-acceleration applications
  • Offers higher forces than cylindrical actuators based on their size

Applications

  • Medical equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Aerospace & Defense

Rotary VCAs

Rotary voice coil actuators (VCA) are ideal for high acceleration applications that require angular movement. There are two types of designs available: Cylindrical and arc-segment. Cylindrical models are typically used in long-stroke applications, whereas arc-segmented designs are better suited for short-stroke and precise positioning.

Rotary actuators feature all the inherent advantages of VCA technology, such as direct drive, zero backlash, and cog-free operation for accurate motion, as well as high acceleration and the use of single phase.

Features

  • Wide range of torque and excursion angles
  • Various mechanical mounting options available
  • Arc-segment and cylindrical designs available

Applications

  • Medical equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Aerospace & Defense

VCA Developer’s Kit

The Voice Coil Actuator (VCA) Developer’s Kit is a completely self-contained kit. It includes a VCA with a built-in feedback sensor and a programmable controller with motion control software that runs on the user’s local PC. The Developer’s Kit allows users to take advantage of the inherent benefits of VCAs without needing to separately specify the necessary electronics for a complete control system.

Using this invaluable device, customers can quickly develop an actuation system and demonstrate a working design concept. Users can control velocity, position, force, oscillation, and acceleration in applications such as valve control, beam steering, clamping, and servo control.

Applications

  • Medical equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Aerospace & Defense

SNAPAK Series

The Airpax™ SNAPAK® Series combines the functions of three separate components: power switch, fuse, and fuse holder. To the OEM, this means that only one item has to be mounted instead of three. Less assembly is required, inventory is cut by two-thirds and greater panel density is obtainable with less clutter.

Since the SNAPAK® is snap-acting, it assures the immediate opening and closing of the contacts. Its design also prevents operator “teasing” of the contacts and minimizes arcing. SNAPAK® circuit protectors are UL Recognized as supplementary protectors per UL STD. 1077, CSA Certified as supplementary protectors per CSA STD. C22.2 No. 235, TUV Approved as circuit breakers for equipment per STD. EN 60934, CCC Approved (customer must request the product be manufactured in China) and CE Compliant.

Features

  • Combines functions of power switch, fuse, and fuse holder
  • Can be operated at either DC or 50/60Hz
  • Variety of handles and actuators
  • Quick-connect terminals available

Applications

  • Office appliances
  • Electronic data processing
  • Medical equipment
  • Business machines
  • Vending and amusement machines

209 Series

The 209, E-Frame circuit breaker combines power switching with accurate, reliable circuit protection in a compact single- or multi-pole unit. It is a family of circuit breakers available in one through six pole assemblies with a variety of configurations and terminal styles to meet your application needs. Utilizing the hydraulic-magnetic principle, the 209 Series products adapt to local applications and environments.

Temperature conditions, which affect fuses and other thermal devices, are not a concern. The magnetic/ampere turn principle minimizes nuisance tripping due to temperature variations. Inrush currents, due to ferro resonant transformers, lamps, and capacitive filters, are now becoming more significant. Recognizing the need for this type of protection, Airpax offers the unique inertial delay which is standard for all 50/60Hz time delay units, but may be deleted where inrush is not a problem. The 209 family of circuit breakers withstand high pulses without tripping or affecting normal delay curves. This performance, however, does not derate or sacrifice protection.

Features

  • “Trip-free” action — the circuit will not remain closed in the presence of an overload even though the handle is held in the ON position
  • Moisture and fungus resistance is provided by the use of moisture-resistant finishes
  • 209/219/229 may be supplied with these ratings: DC, 50/60Hz, 400Hz, 0.1 to 100 amperes. 279 types may be supplied with DC ratings only, 0.1 to 100 amperes
  • On 209/219/229, voltages up to and including 240Vac, 50/60Hz or 400Hz, or 125Vdc are available. Multi-pole units can be supplied for 277Vac/480Vac, 50/60Hz. 279 types are available with a voltage of 160Vdc

Applications

  • EDP
  • HVAC/R
  • Panel Boards
  • Lighting Controls
