Tape Wrap and Fill Polypropylene

Polypropylene Film Foil and Metallized Polypropylene offer the most stable electrical characteristics over temperature and frequency. While polypropylene has not caught up to polyester with respect to dielectric constant, it has surpassed polyester in dielectric strength making it very compatible at voltages of 600V and above. Polypropylene is the most widely used dielectric in the industry. Depending on the application, ASC offers products ranging from lower voltages to higher voltages, low current to high current, and a multitude of termination styles.

Tape Wrap and Fill Polyester

Polyester Film Foil and Metallized Polyester were the first film capacitor product lines. With a dielectric constant of over three, it has volume efficiency superior to polypropylene. With film thicknesses down to 0.9 microns, small package sizes are achieved. Depending on the end applications, ASC offers a variety of polyester products ranging from foil to metallized, low voltage to high voltage and low current to higher currents.

CMKS/X345

The CMKS/X345 is designed for lower voltage motor run applications. These capacitors use segmented film technology and a combination of dielectrics to create a unique product. The CMKS products are typically used in refrigeration markets for motor running and efficiency. This product is UL-recognized for safety under UL810 guidelines and also is recognized by CSA under the C22.2 NO 190 standard.

CMP S/X349

The CMPS/X349 is designed for lower​ to higher​ voltage motor run applications. These capacitors use segmented film technology ​for failing safe.  They are ​typically used in refrigeration markets for motor running and efficiency.​  These products are UL-, VDE-, and CSA-recognized for safety.

EDS/EDC Series Coin Cell-Style Electric Double-Layer Supercapacitors

The new EDC and EDS series of Coin Cell-style EDLC capacitors from Cornell Dubilier (CDE) can replace or extend battery life in onboard memory backup. With quick response and recharge times, these devices offer higher power than batteries and greater energy than typical aluminum electrolytic capacitors without degradation over millions of charge-discharge cycles.

Both series offer values from 0.047 to 1.5 Farad capacity, at voltages up to 6.3 WVDC for the EDC series; and 5.5 WVDC for the EDS series. The operating temperature for the EDS series is from -25 °C to +85 °C, with the EDC series offering -25 °C to +70 °C. Three case configurations are available for horizontal, vertical, and radial-lead PCB mounting.

EDC and EDS series capacitors are ready to board mount in such applications as real-time clock (RTC) backup, power failure backup, battery assist and in market segments such as smart metering, HVAC controls, building automation, communication systems, appliances, instruments, and other microprocessor-based devices. Because of their high volumetric power density, they can be an effective way to reduce board size and weight. Either series can be used as a drop-in replacement for similar-value capacitors recently discontinued by other manufacturers. Lead times are less than 12 weeks with popular values in stock.
