Tape Wrap and Fill Polypropylene

Polypropylene Film Foil and Metallized Polypropylene offer the most stable electrical characteristics over temperature and frequency. While polypropylene has not caught up to polyester with respect to dielectric constant, it has surpassed polyester in dielectric strength making it very compatible at voltages of 600V and above. Polypropylene is the most widely used dielectric in the industry. Depending on the application, ASC offers products ranging from lower voltages to higher voltages, low current to high current, and a multitude of termination styles.

Tape Wrap and Fill Polyester

Polyester Film Foil and Metallized Polyester were the first film capacitor product lines. With a dielectric constant of over three, it has volume efficiency superior to polypropylene. With film thicknesses down to 0.9 microns, small package sizes are achieved. Depending on the end applications, ASC offers a variety of polyester products ranging from foil to metallized, low voltage to high voltage and low current to higher currents.

Film Capacitors

KEMET’s film capacitors have a low ESR that allows them to have a much higher ripple current rating without sacrificing their capacitance. Film’s high voltage rating makes them ideal for DC-Link and high-power applications. Their low ESR, efficient CV, and high voltage ratings make them very useful for energy storage, EMI filtering, and DC-Link applications.

NPXF Series – Safety-Rated Film Caps

NIC Components is pleased to announce the addition of the NPXF series of X1 class Safety Capacitors to its expanded family of leaded (LDD) high-performance safety agency-listed film capacitors. NPXF series expands upon the established NPX & NPXH series of X2 safety capacitors, with a higher voltage rating; up to 440VAC, in the capacitance value range, from 1000pF to 10uF. NXPF series is intended for use as an interference suppression capacitor, used across the AC line and neutral in North America, and L1 to L2 in Europe to suppress differential-mode interference (EMI).

NPXF series utilizes metallized polypropylene film with noninductive & self-healing wound element construction, for stability under VAC operation, and safe end-of-life failure mode. NPXF series has safety agency listings with UL, cUL, ENEC, and CQC for use in across-the-line, radio interference, and EMI suppression applications. Molded box-type construction meets UL-94V-0 flammability test, and is supported in reduced case sizes, for high-density circuit designs.

NPXF series features a wide operating temperature range of -40ᵒC to +110ᵒC, is RoHS compliant with Pb-Free finish, and has unit pricing ranging from $0.07 to $3.49 in production volumes. Contact NIC Components today for free samples or to review your circuit requirements.
